8+ comes with three versions of each that you can install as you like. The pinky side panel and palm rest are both removable, and the R.A.T. Now we're getting to the fun part: Three of four panels-both of the side panels, and the palm rest-are adjustable in some way. One of the three RGB lighting elements is inside, near the base of thumb rest, giving that inner space a funky glow.
There's some space between each of these panels, which exposes springs, screws, and some of what would normally be interior housing. Instead of a single all-encompassing shell, the outer contours comprise four panels: the top button area (with the click panels and surrounding buttons), the thumb rest on the left side, a pinky rest on the right, and a palm rest at the base. Turning the knob performs one action, turning it right executes another.Īnd, yes, I did say that portions of the mouse's base are "open." It's part of the R.A.T. The space just inside the thumb-side panel is open and exposed, and inside is a large knob that adds two more customizable "button" functions. The most interesting buttons aren't actually buttons at all. It looks good but functionally isn't as foolproof or comfortable as the paddles and panels on mice like the Razer Basilisk. Then there's the crosshairs-labeled sniper trigger under your thumb, a small, semi-spherical button that pokes out a little. The side buttons are a bit more subtle you have a pair of macro buttons, which are slim and a bit hard to find by feel.
There's also a flat profile-switching button sitting on an angular panel just off the left side of the mouse.

On top, you have the usual two click panels and a scroll wheel, plus a double-sided switch for swapping among four preset resolution/DPI settings. Its 11-button, right-handed, FPS-style design-with an extended thumb rest and a "sniper" button that sits near the tip of your thumb-provides lots of functionality. 8+ is, as you might expect from a first glance, a rather complex mouse to grok.
